Year 6 Class Assembly: Some thoughts... This year we've started doing class assemblies again, to which the class parents are invited. It was our turn on 4th December 1998, and we chose the theme of sound to follow our science work. These are some thoughts written immediately after doing the assembly...   I got nervous and started to shake. Seeing my mum and my brother made me even more nervous. I started taking deep breaths... Peter   I thought our class assembly was good because everything we did was interesting. My nerves were terrified, I was scared. I think we did a good job and worked together as a team... Billy   I had to read out my bit and I felt embarrassed in front of my mum and I thought that I was going to do it wrong! Gemma W   At first I had butterflies, but after a while they went. It was my turn and not as bad as I thought. In the end I enjoyed it. I was talking about the violin... Katie-Jane   When I saw all of the people I thought, 'What if I say something wrong, what if the microphone doesn't work?' It felt like my heart was beating 20 times a second. I thought it went well, but some people were saying their works too quick and rushing what they were saying... Robert   When I saw all the parents I was getting really sick. I felt all the sweat dripping down my cheeks. My heart was beating very fast. When it came to my part I was quiet and a bit too fast at the end. When it all ended I was so embarrassed because everyone was clapping... Katie   I had to blow the tenor horn and the watering can. I found it very hard to blow the horn because you have to make a buzzing noise with your lips. When you blow through the end your cheeks hurt but it was very good and I enjoyed it very much. I liked the bit where Charley had to blow a dog whistle... Vanessa   We walked into the hall and I was really nervous. I had a feeling everything was going to go wrong, but it didn't. It got to my go and as I was talking I was getting hotter and hotter... Serena   I felt all right... Senina   I felt relieved when it was over. I was very nervous when it came to my part. When it was over I didn't do anything wrong. Nobody else went wrong. They laughed at the things they were supposed to laugh at... Gemma B   When I saw the parents my stomach turned over. In the practice it took forever to get to me but on the day it seemed to take only two minutes. I was scared stiff and I looked at everyone, but it went fine... Simon   It went quite good... Kurt   In the five minutes before the moment of truth I was feeling nervous, but I was just saying to myself to speak loud. I think everyone else was nervous too. When we walked into the hall I saw all the adults sitting in their chairs. It sent a shiver down my back. I was number 6 on the list... Thomas K   It went really well, I think, until it came to me because I almost forgot some of my words. I felt really hot and it felt like my head was going to blow up. I thought it went really quickly... Charley   I was the narrator and was a little scared. I had about 20 bits to do and everyone thought I'd made a mistake... Thomas G   I was terrified! All went well until I had to do a bit with a stethoscope and the end fell off twice! I carried on though and just stuck it on again. After that there were no more mishaps... Lauren   I felt very scared, I was shivering. When it came to my turn, I was shivering even more because we had to say something solo... Priya   I thought it was very good but I didn't like the flashing lights of the cameras... Hayley   I was scared I would get my words wrong, but I was lucky and got them right... Jack   I felt nervous when I said the prayer, and I said it a bit wrong... Uhmesh   I think it went ok and all the people were there. I had to scratch the table and Kurt had to read out and it went well... Adam   I felt good going in but when I saw all the parents my heart started to beat. It was good though and I think we did it well and it all went well... Sarah   I felt excited at the thought of doing it, but when I walked in I went weak at the knees and my heart was pounding in my jumper. My tummy felt jumpy and bubbly inside. When I sat down, my grandma appeared through the door and smiled at me. I couldn't stop smiling or laughing and the people next to me kept prodding me and smiling. I stood and said my part and I am sure I was bright red. I felt relieved when it was over. When we had finished the parents clapped and clapped. I couldn't stop smiling. I felt sorry for Lauren when the end fell off the stethoscope... Erhyn   I felt embarrassed, even when it wasn't my turn because it was my first assembly and it was to the rest of the school and our parents... Matthew   I had to show the different parts of the piano... Krunal   I felt ok before I went in but when I sat down I started shivering a bit before I stood up to say my bit. I nearly fell over when I got up to talk. I was sure my voice was too small and my face was really red, I was so embarrassed. But after that I was ok. A little Year 3 boy kept saying 'cool' to the boy next to him... Charlotte
