
Maths: NRICH is an online maths club run by the National Royal Institution in Cambridge. It publishes games, problems and puzzles for under-12s, and information on setting up your own maths club. Human body and health: Staying healthy is a US site with information for children about health issues. Food for children is another US site produced by a commercial fruit company, aiming to provide information on nutrition on fruit and vegetables in a fun way for children. The British Nutrition Foundation has information on food and health for adults and older children. Online exploration of the heart is a virtual tour of the heart, produced by the US Franklin Institute. The Earth and Space: The huge NASA site has information and links on just about everything to do with Space. Particularly good is the Spaceplace games section. The planets has lots of well presented information for children. Introduction to the Earth is a US site with sections on different aspects of the Earth. The Royal Observatory at Greenwich has some information on the Universe for older children. Design and Technology: Mechanisms and structures has animations and explanations of basic mechanisms for children. Craftwork for children is a US-oriented site with some ideas for cards and other simple things to make at home or in school. Animals and wildlife: The American Museum of Natural History in New York is a huge, well-organised site with interactive exhibits. Cetacea is a good site for information on whales, porpoises and dolphins. The Electronic Zoo is a collection of many hundreds of well-organised links to a huge variety of animal sites. The UK Natural History Museum in London is a good site with a lot of information. The Virtual Zoo is a very good site aimed at 7-12s, with information, photos and sound samples of wild animals. Wildlife Web has a good collection of animal facts, photos, sounds and links, and has a section on conservation. The WWW virtual library: Zoos has a good collection of international zoo and wildlife site links. Zoonet Endangered Species has a simple animal database for children. Other: ENC Online is a large US government site with links to some good world science and maths teaching resources.
