| Year 6 Newspaper Holidays Belgium In Brigga the St. Michel's Hotel is close to the town centre so it is only about five minutes from the hotel. There are thousands of bikers on red marked out roads. The currency in Belgium is only Francs. There are two one Franc coins with different people on. In the city centre there is a tram ride from one side to the other side of Belgium. This country is more of a Catholic place. In the town centre the is a burger bar and a restaurant next to it. The town centre is a place to visit. There is a tower and a kind of church down the road. Outside the tower is braille writing and a map for the blind. There is a boat ride round the town. There are a lot of churches, sixteen in all. To get to Belgium you have to go by boat or by train. The train has two names, the Eurostar or Le Shuttle. The Eurostar is a passenger train and the Shuttle is a car, coach or lorry train. The boats and trains both go from Dover to Calais. It's about one hour from Calais to Brugge in Belgium. I would give this holiday to Brugge in Belgium 9/10. Isle of Wight ![]() This island is very similar to England. It takes about half an hour by boat to get to the island. There are lots of places to visit. There is a castle which has pictures inside and you can see where the fire places were. In one room you can see barrels of gunpowder that might be real. Nearby there is a is a shop which sells fossils and gems. The bigger they are, the more expensive they are. If you want to get some for free, if you are lucky you might find some on the beach. There is a fossil museum in the south, near to Blackgang Chine. There is another shop along the road next to the theme park. But beware if you go in winter, you might find yourself falling down a landslide into the sea below! They had to move the attractions back, away from the cliff. The theme park was put there because people used to smuggle in the caves. I would give the Isle of Wight 8 out of 10. ![]() (Isle of Wight photos by James) America Go to Newport in America to Rhode Island, it is lovely and hot. You can go for a nice walk and see the huge (and I mean huge) mansions, they are so beautiful. There are round about nine mansions to walk around. You'll be very tired after. The mansions have a lot of history. It is quite interesting. At all the bars there, at night they have great music and you can dance and sing. The people are quite funny. In America the Americans are really nice to us English people. There are beautiful beaches there. I would give Newport, Rhode Island 7/10 Corfu Go to Corfu in Greece you can go to a hotel called Stephens On The Hill. You can get a room with two bedrooms and a small kitchen. The view from the hotel is of the Sea and Mountains. There is always Greek dancing at night at Stephens On The Hill and it is great fun to watch. You can walk down to the Village in 1 minute. In the Village there are brilliant restaurants with great food. You can go to the Sea in two minutes from the hotel through the Village. Go to romantic restaurant, it's a beautiful place to go at night. It's just by the sea but don't go to the hotel there it is not very good. It is very hot there but don't go in the summer because it gets too hot and you burn. Be careful down at the beach because there are open drains going into the sea, and you can get a virus from the pollution. There are sunbeds and umbrellas you can rent as well. I would give Corfu 9/10 Mrs Lomax's Class |
