 In September 1999 Acorn stopped developing desktop computers. Hardware production, distribution and support has been taken over by CTL. RiscOS Ltd has taken over the development of the operating system and is licensing this to other hardware manufacturers for a variety of new machines: CTL (Castle Technology Limited) Licensed makers and distributors for the existing range of A7000+ and RiscPC computers, Kinetic RiscPCs, the new Iyonix RiscOS PCs, network computers, also peripherals, network and USB cards and spares for RiscOS machines. Millipede Electronic Graphics are developing a new Imago Millipede RiscOS motherboard for professional graphics applications. RiscStation Ltd (CTA Ltd) now have available the RiscStation R7500 in tower and desktop systems. This has built-in MIDI and sampler, PC PS2 mouse and keyboard, IRDA infra-red port, network card and high speed ports. A version with a PCI bus is now being developed. They are also producing a small laptop RiscOS portable. Cumana/Cannon Computing have released the SLYM network computer with combined LCD screen, aimed at NT/Citrix school networks. They also specialise in multi-platform networking for schools via Citrix. ExpLAN is co-ordinating the development of the Solo RiscOS project for solar powered computers for 3rd World countries. Virtual Acorn/3QD produce the VirtualA5000 software emulator to run on Windows 98/Me/2000/XP machines, including laptops.
