Class Visits:
Year 6 day visit to secondary schools

All the Year 6 children went on a day induction visit to their new secondary schools on Tuesday 7th July 1998. In the evening they had their theatre trip.

First all of Deanesfield met by the gates of Queensmead. We all followed each other to the hall. Everyone sat down on the chairs and Deanesfield was on the front row. Each child got picked for their classes...

Queensmead was brilliant. We went into the hall first of all and they put us into our form groups. The name of my form tutor is Mrs Refson, but I have probably spelt her name wrong. She is really nice. We had a game where we had a name and we had to find the person who was the opposite. I made a friend. Her name is Emma.
Then the teacher and two prefects took us around the school. At break we were allowed to get chocolate and things out of the vending machines. Then the whistle went and we all lined up. We went to a science class and did an experiment called Rainbow Fizz.

We went to Queensmead and had a tour of the school, met our form tutors and experienced a couple of lessons. I am in Mrs Segal's form. She is to be my R.E. teacher. My form did some science. We made a fizz. We also did art. We had to do a portrait of the person sitting opposite. I drew a person called Jade. We played a game where we had to find our partner. Mine was a girl called Amy. We stsrted lunch at 11.30 and stopped at 12.35. My form room is the laboratory - you go into the cloakroom, go up the stairs above the toilets and it is on the first door on the left. The chips in the canteen are tasty and cheap, they are 52p a bag. I really enjoyed myself.

We did a science lesson called Rainbow Fizz - that was where we put in something like baking powder then stir it. we recorded our answers. The mixture kept changing colour until the end when it went bluey purple. Then we went to an English lesson. Our teacher left us there to find our way back to the classroom. We all did...

I really liked it - it is about 4 times bigger than Deanesfield. My form tutor is really nice, funny and kind. I have met a lot of new friends and I can't wait to start in September. The uniform is very smart and you have lots of different teachers and lessons...
